Redhat uses a thing called magicdev who will basically popup a
filemanager and eventually automatically run a script on the CDROM.

Problem is that the RH guys don't put magicdev in the default gnome
session so only the knowledgeable user will get this feature.  :-(

It also means KDE or plain X users won't get it AFAIK.
