One interesting patch I have found useful in running a ppp/slip
connection... The sort of patch that makes the apparent slower
performance of Netscape in linux disappear. irqtune is a program that
rearranges the priority of interrupts.

I could put together a small graphics-oriented program asking the user
about his system use and invoking irqtune to improve performance based
on the answers (through the generation of a script for
/etc/rc.d/rc.local) if there is some consensus that it might be a good
idea for future releases.
