[kidsgames] potential engines for kids programs

I took a look at HUGO, Inform, and TADS, all of which are tools to write
interactive fiction.  They all include the capability to add graphics and sound;
unfortunately, none of them run on Linux.

After a cursory search I've found these five possible tools:

PowerPak Game SDK
<http://www.angelfire.com/va/powerpakgsdk/>

MAGE Adventure Game Engine
<http://mage.rulez.org>

GAMES (GNU Animation Multimedia Entertainment System)
<http://members.xoom.com/bitwize>

Modular Game Base
<http://nobs.cs.mcla.mass.edu/~jareth/game/>

ClanLib
<http://www.clanlib.org>

I haven't looked at any of these, really, beyond recognizing that they might
have some useful possibilities for us. Some are SDKs, some are API libraries, and
I think at least one is an authoring tool. If anyone has any experience with
any of these (or other suggestions), please send them along to the list.
