A good thought.  The 2.0 release cycle was way way too slow at ~2.5
years.  If we wind up getting our act together enough to get releases
out on a one-per-year basis, then we'll have two or three stable
releases at any time, which isn't so bad... but if we get much faster
than one-per-year, we'll want to revise this policy.

With any luck, if that should happen, we can take another page from
the Linux playbook and have enough active enthusiastic developers that
somebody besides me can be in charge of the "Long term support"
series, and maybe the "stable" series too. ;)
