If you are using Windoze (why else 'winzip'?) then you may have
fallen foul of a windoze bug where the browser unpacks GZIP files
automatically - but when they have two extensions (.tar and .gz)
somehow fails to rename the file without the '.gz' extension.

Try renaming it manually.
