Just a little FYI for everyone, creating a RAID volume requires you to
delete the contents on *both* disks.  Hence to install RAID on your /
partition, you have to create the RAID volumes before you install the OS.  

Yes, it sounds like a chicken-egg thing.  You have to do a small linux
install, and then make the RAID / volume an initrd and install your real
copy on that.
