It is uncommon, but not unheard of. I take it more as annoucing their
work to see if they can get some sponsorship/more people to help. Not a
horrible thing IMHO.

I think what he's refering to is the fact that the web page code will not
be viewable (like HTML is) thereby hiding the site's code. This is useful
for mostly commercial sites, etc. While I'm a big fan of letting people
learn from each others web page code, I don't condone stealing it without
permission. Also by hiding the web page code, you can help secure embeded
data.
I think this is cool. But it's not going to be ready by their estimates
for another 6 months or so... too long for me to wait. :-) Maybe we can
look at it later if PHP becomes a major part of the site (possible, but
not likely right now).
