Perhaps, but it is not common in free software development as I have noticed,
releasing as soon as a reasonably sized codebase has been reached seems to be
common.  The announcement before it is released at all bothered me more than 
this.  As if they had some competition they were worried about.

I didn't pick up on this.  Are you talking charging commercial users or the
usual charge for support deal?
