Developer Interest: joseph cheek (fwd)

My guess is that he'd like to work out a content exchange between the two
sites.  While I'm excited about the potential, I'm also a bit concerned
because while we're both trying to do simular things, we're going about it
in very different ways and with different goals in mind.  I don't want us
to loose sight of those goals in an effort to work a deal.

One thing that Cheek has that we don't is the commercial connections.  
His KB is being distributed with Caldera OpenLinux and ZD is using him on
their Linux section.  I think though, it wouldn't take much for us to get
a section on freshmeat.net if we did a "what's new page" just like
slashdot, LinuxToday, and 32bitsOnline do. With my contacts with VA,
getting a link off linux.com would be a phone call away.

Before we write back, we should decide what we want from him that is
useful to us.  What kind of colaboration do we wish to do?  Is it too late
for that?  We did talk to him a long time ago after all, and he basically
snubed us.

Anyways, I'd like to do a IRC chat sometime Monday or Tuesday night to
talk about this and go over potential developers.

Why I want to help:

my main interest is in working with you all to enhance both of our linux
knowledge bases.  i talked with jason pincin several months ago, and aaron
has contributed to my knowledge base also and is on our development list.

i have only checked a few things above, but there are many things i can
contribute.
