I agree with the change of the B. May be I need to change all the font if you want that distribution of the text, because it hides one of the most important part of the logo: the 
evolution from the project to a reality.
About the penguin... I really like the linux logo, and I think the guy that made it it's great. But I'm tired of see the penguin sit, walk, smashing things, flying... The easyest thing to 
do while drawing anything with the word LINUX, is adding penguins somewhere.
I know the penguin IS a standard of the linux comunity. But... Redhat has a penguin? or Suse, Debian, Freshmeat, Themes.org, etc....
Before I start to drawing the logo, I think what it need to represent. May be it can have a penguin, or not. I have to confess that my first try have the penguin in it. But I have to 
discard it for the sake of simplicity. It doesn't add nothing to the idea.
I can't tell with this you don't have any penguin at anywhere in the web (I think in what Aaron tells my about penguins in the search results). But if you see penguins here, 
penguins there... a day you may tired to see penguins, and start so see it throwgh windows :)....
