These five have to be set by the client, not the user[1]. In the case of
References and In-Reply-To, this means that the client must have the
referenced message available to it.

Perhaps for clarity. Though, that doc must be written prior to the Type
III spec doc, so that the Type III spec doc can require adherence to it.

[1] User settings are arbitrary. Client settings are canonicalized.
