Can you try using ".stbmac.exit" on that port 465 sending email? I
have secure smtp enabled, or at least, it should be enabled.
Is port 995 now in the default accept list? (rc-9)
If it works with an explicit exit node, but not without an explicit
exit node, then I'd say that's proof that tor does not automatically
choose an appropriate exit node as needed :-).
Sending mail is another story :) It is quite impossible in SMTP on 25 as in secure SMTP on 465, as most tor exit nodes block traffic to these ports. So, to send email, better is to connect to a web
interface (in https of course), safe-mail is fine for this too.
