Although it's not fully applicable to what you're talking about, a
hidden-service automapper has been implemented in the development-branch
of Tor.
When a hidden service is "resolved" (i.e., through the DNS listener), it
will return a private IP to the program which made the query. That IP
was assigned on-the-fly to that hostname.
The option is turned on with the torrc option: AutomapHostsOnResolve 1
The idea is, this allows programs using the transparent-redirection
ability implemented in the dev-branch Tor (esp. useful for those that
don't speak SOCKS, or don't resolve hostnames through SOCKS), to use
hidden services.
