The improved font support was done on last year's GSoC, so it is not a
suitable task for this year's GSoC. I am not sure about whom of the devs
has enough time and interest to mentor this year, but if there is a
overwhelming amount of request, we should be able to mentor a student or
two.
Do not let that stop you of bringing up your own idea.

I set up a preliminary GSoC 2010 ideas page[1], which basically is the
version of 2009 without the tasks that were done last year.
