Good question really. If this PEP

http://www.python.org/peps/pep-0342.html

is implemented, it might open up some new, interesting options for
pygame and GUI development. It could make something like twisted
obsolete... hmmm.

It certainly wouldn't make Twisted obsolete, it would only make the syntax more convenient.
