[pygame] pygame in mac os 8?

Hi,

I downloaded pygame-1.1.sit from pygame.org and put the resulting folder into my
site-packages directory. But when i start an interpreter and do 'import pygame',
i get

ImportError: No Module named base

happening in pygames's __init__.py on like 27 (where it imports pygame.base)

Did I install wrong? i've got no base.py but i do have bse.carbon.slb. should i
have put those somewhere else?

this machine is quite old and i'm not a mac person, any help would be appreciated.
