well, mainly because i didn't think anyone was going to use it, 
secondly because it is a little messy internally...

nevertheless, i just checked into cvs code that allows subsurface 
inside subsurface, and still maintaining the direct blits. please 
test this out ludek, let me know if it's doing what you need. (i'm 
not too eager to test this out, but if you say it work i'll trust ya)
