Re: [pygame] Can't install pygame



I remember getting this error. I have no idea what is the exact cause,  but I 
 found out the Numeric did not install propally because of a bad python2.1.1 
build. Even though Python2.1.1 seemed ok. 

This is what I did to get things running:

I completely uninstalled python2.1.1 and python2.0
I then rebuilt and reinstalled python2.1.1 from a src.rpm. then reinstalled 
it 
then reinstalled Numeric and pygame worked??

Ive found for my old redhat 7.1 system and also for my current mandrake8.0 
system its best to completely remove python before upgrading. Ive also had 
the most success rebuilding and installing Python and SDL from src.rpm's even 
if some missing dependencies hunting is required.
