Re: [school-discuss] Linux in Government: Linux Desktop Reviews, Part 6 - Ubuntu | Linux Journal

one slight caveat to this recommendation might be in order: the ubuntu discuss-list is very enthusiastic and very active. if you sign up for this list, my experience was you will receive hundreds of emails daily. Perhaps it has subsided by now, but be prepared.

This is the sixth article in a round-up of Linux Desktop distributions for the enterprise.

The Ubuntu distribution surprised me in a pleasing way. The more I use it and learn about it, the more impressed I have become. We plan to do a more exhaustive study of these desktops in a print article for Linux Journal. We also plan an extensive report available for enterprises and available from our web site this summer.

I strongly recommend that people get a partition on their computer and install Ubuntu so you can see what all the excitement is about!
