Speaking of Vista. . . . Anyone who hasn't already
seen the following dissection of Microsoft's latest
atrocity should check out the article:

http://badvista.fsf.org/what-s-wrong-with-microsoft-windows-vista

The real reason to wipe the virus off the box is here:
http://www.whitedust.net/news/3984/United_States_Government_Online_Watchdogs?_Part_of_the_war_on_terror?.../

I don't want to be seen in any way as defending Microsoft here,
but that article is ridiculous. It was pretty thoroughly dissected
on slashdot, and the overall consensus is that the guy was most
likely running some P2P app, and thus should expect to be contacted
by bunches of machines from around the internet, government and
private sector alike.

The FSF complaint is certainly legitimate. My own experience is
that Vista on a dual-core 2GHz, 2GB ram system is slower than
an old PIII 600MHz, 384MB ram system running Win2k. Just booting
Vista and logging in on a brand new system consumed 4-500MB,
without starting any useful apps.
