[school-discuss] etc ... merry christmas / happy new year broadcast

Channel 1 :

The Brahms Piano Concertos, Giels, Jochum and the Berlin Philharmonic.
These are really symphonies, probably the best concertos of all time. This
performance was identified by the conductor and the pianist as the favorite
performances of their respective careers! I have to agree. IMHO Jochum is the
greatest of all the Brahms conductors.

Robert Silverberg, The Pope of the Chimps.
This is the most touching story of human-animal bonding ever cast in a science
fiction framework. Highly Recommended.

Ravel Daphnis and Chloe, Complete Ballet, Pierre Boulez, Berlin Philharmonic.
This is lush romantic music performed by the lushest orchestra in the world,
and the greatest conductor of french music.

Dunwich Horror by H. P. Lovecraft.
The prototypical Lovecraft, and the book that sheds the most light on his
peculiar methodology. If you read trashy ":spook" pulps as a kid like I did,
check this out. It's the MCBeth/Hamlet of the genre'.

John Coltrane's Soultrain,
simply the best of Coltrane's ballads.

World War II chronicles.
Among other things, a first person account of Rummel's last day, the day the
SS murdered him, by his son!

Channel 2 :

Alice in Wonderland.
I took the liberty of substituting in The Golden Bowl by Henry James as the
dryest book ever written!

Stan Getz Focus.
A whole album of jazz based on Alice in Wonderland by the master of cool, and
the Bossa Nova.

Channel 3 :

This is the featured program. C. S. Lewis' classic Lion, Witch and Wardrobe,
hopefully the beginning of a run on the chronicles.

The Fairy's Kiss, Stravinsky
Did you know that the Fairy's Kiss premeried on CBS television in the fifties,
and that it started Robert Nagel's rise to the top, as America's most famous
trumet soloist of the 50s?

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
