There's an excellent and growing PD photo collection at http://www.burningwell.org/ (to which please add any interesting and clear photos you have lying around), and another almost-unencumbered collection on CreativeCommons, plus a gig of my own of flowers and stuff under a CC2 licence on Linux Australia at http://linux.org.au/~leonb/flahs/ - but...

Do you know of any other good sites?

The criteria are:

 * PD or similar licence (ie practically unencumbered)

 * High resolution

 * Either good quality pics or lots to choose from (or both)

These make an excellent educational resource as students are pretty much guaranteed to find at least one image which interests them. The image can then be used to teach them about graphics programs or pasted into an empty OOWriter document and a story built around it, and so on.

If you know of any other sites, please do tell.

If you have any high-quality images yourself, and no particular plans to "monetise" them, please consider uploading them to BurningWell or a similar site to put them to work.

Each image added is - as well as being directly useful - encouragement for others to visit the site which in turn means a certain proportion of those new visitors will upload yet more images.
