Is your disk a 650MB or a 700MB usable disk? (74 min vs 80 min)?
I have burnt quite a number on our lite-on drive,
cdrecord dev=0,0,0 speed=52 driveropts=burnfree,forcespeed -v -eject
knoppix-kids-v2.iso
I am useing 40x rated 80 minute media, and it will burn just fine at 52x
on this drive.
Here is a burn example.
