In the Vocational Education & Training (VET) sector in Australia when we talk about eLearning it is often in the context of Flexible Learning and Flexible Delivery. Often in VET when people talk about eLearning they are talking about one specific part of a larger learning strategy or about content resources.

ELearning is not generally talked about as a stand alone learning strategy. Stand alone eLearning ( ie no faciliator, automated assessment) tends to be the province of organisational compliance training (ie OHS, sexual harassment). It is designed for low cost, mass training and aimed at limiting organisational liability not the actual faciliation of learning.
