It was welcomed discussion within the context of education technology. Seems more 'off topic' could have been a post from later that same day when Joel mentioned the FAA was switching to Linux (which is welcomed too.) In the discussion of video creation, a few different FLOSS tools were mentioned. Uploading videos and the popularity of websites such as YouTube are of particular interest, they are relatively new technologies that do have an impact on education.

In Joel's comment, it wasn't so much about the FAA - but about the fact that the occurrence could be a discussion point when evaluating FLOSS.

Both of these are valid discussions, and please suggest topics that you would like to see discussed.
