I am thinking that there is no standard for any opensource or *nix based
solutions that is being followed.  We can choose to do our own thing, but
adoption of applications by schools tend to follow approved by stamps for
the IT dept in the County, Parish District, etc....  There is also the
mandate of things that each state may or may not require.  These are all
more likely to follow an etsablishe pattern than the "great something new"
created by Schoolforge.  We don't have that kind of moxie, yet.

As a some would suggest, you don't have a real world view.

The thinking towards the SIF is simply it exists, it is preferred by the
government, and it is not likely to go away.  Builing in a compliance with
it might be a good thing, but then again, I am not the expert on this.
