[school-discuss] SIF (School Interoperability Framework) Issues

Hi,

I was corresponding with a fellow working on the Central SIS system, and 
he were talking about the 'barrier to access' created by the SIF 
'standards' (however half baked, from what I've seen).

Does anyone know what's happening out there with respect to SIF 
requirements in order to be able to use open source Student Information 
Systems in schools (I assume in the United States... or other countries) ?

As well, is anyone aware of the status of the OpenZIS (Zone Server for 
open source projects )?  (I already do XML transfers over HTTPS to our 
provincial education authority)
