Re: [school-discuss] Massive Multiplayer Worlds as Classrooms
Hey, everyone....
Long time lurker, first time poster. Shane's post was the catalyst to
go ahead and hit the reply button for the first time...
I am a "Second Lifer" who is also an educator and I'm enthralled with
its possibilities for education. Just today, CNN ran an article on
education within SL: http://www.cnn.com/2006/TECH/11/13/
second.life.university/index.html. I'll say that most major media
outlets don't "get" Second Life nor any of the other metaverses so I
find those articles lacking. I prefer articles like a SL blogger
wrote for Edutopia: http://www.edutopia.org/1709. A number of
educational groups exist in Second Life and the system is readily
searchable for such.
As a platform for education, the possibilities offered by virtual
worlds are enormous. The possibilities for collaboration are equally
rich and I encourage other educators to take a look at virtual worlds
with open eyes.

Hi Folks,
Has anyone had any experience or giving consideration to concepts

beginnings of
the virtual classroom?
Wondering how others feel...
