Moodle will allow you to set online, uploaded and offline assignments,
with interlinear feedback in the former case. It also allows for
automatic marking of quizzes in a variety of formats.

If you have Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP installed (and most external
webhosts do), it should be a case of little more than copying the
scripts across to your webserver, creating a database and running the
install script.

There are pretty good instructions over at

But if you run into difficulties, the support community is one of the
best around.
