Here's a project that may be of interest:
http://www.computerbasedmath.org/
Apparently, this is currently dominated by Wolfram Research,
maker and vendor of the proprietary program Mathematica,
among other tools. If some movers and shakers in the FLOSS
community climbed aboard, perhaps there could be really
productive results. Something to think about.
