A.K.A a Journaling filesystem.  Someone is working on one for Linux.  I
see references to it on occasion in the kernel-dev mailing list when I
follow it.

No go on the disks, I got the scripts worked around the tar problem but a
strip command on the library is falling out for some reason.  I am not
going to fight it any longer.
