Re: [seul-edu] appropriate lightweight distribution
Greetings,
Word Perfect 8 seems not to run under RedHat 7.1, which seems on the surface
to contradict your post. (But if your RH 7.1 is simply a server for older
systems, then we are still in agreement.) It has failed under kernel 2.2.4
(RH 7.1), and 2.2.19 (Slackware 8). A call to Corel was not very satisfying,
seeing they are pretty much wrapping up their Linux operation.
WP Office 2000 does run on these distributions, but is now getting pricy --
about $60 per seat at the university level -- and I despair of continued
support. 'Tis a shame, because Word Perfect has some features I desire, such
as easy booklet printing.
