You could have a slight performance hit on ext2, but if you were using
FAT, it would be a performance increase, due to not fragmenting.

Also since you are just using the file system to hold them (try and keep 
them on a dedicated partition), it should be a very minimal hit.  You
are actualy accessing the ISO filesytem directly, with the iso image
just residing on the ext2 file system.

Also compaired to a CDROM drive, it will be FAST (especialy if you use
something like an IBM 22gxp IDE drive, or an IBM Ultrastar 18es U2W scsi 
drive).
