Abuledu is a suite of modules that help you easily set up and administer a school-wide Linux server for an eterogenous network with web-based administration, support for Internet connection sharing, internal and external mail, X terminals, a collection educational  programs, library management software, a software development toolkit, and some crunchy details like sharing a CD tower or authentication through ID cards.

The website is in french, but Abuledu itself is said to have been translated into various languages:

The project just reached V. 1.0. It seems pretty impressive.

ABUL is the French "Association Bordelaise d'Utilisateurs de Linux", pretty active on the French Linux scene.
