"...When Riverdale High School launched last year with 80 computers
running Linux, the school saved $40,000. The system runs so well that
[Paul] Nelson, the school's full-time network administrator, is teaching
three-quarters time. [...] Orlando Ayala, then head of worldwide sales,
told senior managers they could give Windows software away for free to
foreign governments if that's what it took to win a competitive battle
with Linux. ..."
