Re: [seul-edu] [Fwd: Information Request]

Another note, ITEC is filled with companies that are either Microsoft, or
majorly microsoft affiliated. There were some companies that said there
product also come in linux varients, but I get the feeling most of the
companies think that Linux is a fad. Its generally not a good environment, I
mean I get alot of free stuff, but my experiences are that because its such
a small venue (comparitively to CEBIT or Comdex) the sales people sort of
have the attitude that these local people are only here to get the freebies
and have no interest in the products. As a result they are kinda hostile,
especially towards any younger college age students, they logically assume
they have no business being there. Anyway, this is just what goes on at my
local event, It is a good place to make contacts though.

Indianapolis, Indiana, we are attempting to put together a pavilion in our
event to showcase all facets of Linux. We are looking to showcase commerce
as well as associations and education. I am e-mailing you to get a better
idea of how to approach these above mentioned industry segments. What are
some common issues facing those within the Linux community? Are these
issues something that could be addressed by getting in front of 8-10,000
buying team members from every major industry segment? In the past, have
trade shows or expos been an effective venue for showcasing Linux services
and education? What traditionally have been the major points of education
for Linux? Any problems getting that desired message out there?
