Re: EDUML (Dr. Geo)

While you're discussing EDUML and DrGeo, you might want to think about how it
might fit into a bigger scheme. First consider some possibilities with
ProMath. Although ProMath is being designed with Math in mind, there is
nothing to prevent it from being used for any subject. Also what it serves up
is not restricted to exploration. One can interpret it to be exploration,
drill, test, homework, class assignment or whatever. By adding the ability to
display a block of text, which one would want for exploration anyway, it
could be used for displaying a Cell Biology course or a Computer Science
textbook. Now as I understand XML, it provides a means for tagging things as
to what they are and how to display them. Thus the possibility of using the
ProMath design as a general purpose learning/teaching server. By
appropriately tagging human knowledge in whatever form (question/answer,
textbook, DrGeo, video), it can be readily handled by the server. Thus a
student can be reading text on geometry, not understand something, and drop
into DrGeo for enlightenment. Or be taking a test which is automatically
graded and the results placed into a gradebook. Or reading about cell
biology, need to understand osmosis and drop into physics, etc. Just some
thoughts about how everything can be put together. Finally Sony is coming out
with their Play
