John, 

Please don't be too hasty.  The overwhelming majority of computers are
shipped with MSDOS and Windows.  We could take advantage of the presence
of DOS with out being "reliant" on MicroSoft, if it works equally as well
with DRDOS, PCDOS or whatever DOS you like.  It could be the best thing
to happen to MicroSoft from our viewpoint.
