Not so hard to write a HID to export the paste layer to whatever
format you need.  No point going through an intermediate file format.

You can even make it a plug-in :-)

How big is the laser aperture?  The Pololu laser is 10 mil, which is
too big for some of the small pitch stuff I work with.
