Do transparencies work too?

Should the paper lie on the table or should it be held in the air?

If the whole assembly is lying on a table, does the table turn brown too?
Is it necessary to use a heat-resistant table?

This reminds me the drilling template technology I am using on Ronja mechnaics.
A template is scissored out, glued on the chunk, the chunk then milled,
after it the chunk thrown into water and retrieved after couple minutes.
The paper is thrown away easily.
