How did you use gnumeric -- awk some commas into the pcb file contents 
first?

We use a spreadsheet function in gattrib all the time to edit 
schematics.  Maybe with a save-selected-to-a-file dialog, more of us 
would use a gattrib-like way of editing pcb files too...
