[school-discuss] Software Freedom Day

Please note that one of the Software Freedom Days is one week from Saturday on
August 28. This is an idea that started right here on this list!

What can you do?

You don't have to plan a big event, but there is time to call a meeting, send
some email, and pass out some CDs. If you haven't ever booted a Knoppix Live
CD*, by all means check it out! They are easy to download and burn, and are a
great way to introduce people to Linux and FOSS.

For more information see:

http://softwarefreedomday.org/ - a global event, with supplies (art, etc)

http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html - download CD ISO

* The Knoppix Live CD allows anyone with a PC (Windows user, laptop) to boot
and immediately run Linux, with many great tools (Openoffice, Mozilla, ssh,
email, etc). The CD does not touch the harddrive, so it is safe for people to
try it without installing Linux.

I have even made a version of the CD that has all of the robotics software
that I use ready to run. See:

Have fun!
