Re: [school-discuss] Smallest Linux Footprint

Ubuntu has thier eeebuntu versions that may work also. They're designed for the Asus EEE machines, but are known to work on others. They don't mention E-140's specifically, but it may be worth a look anyway. They have 3 versions available; a slimed down base system, the netbook edition, and a standard ubuntu full install tailored for the eee laptops. I love the netbook edition on an eee 900 and love it. :) Have a look at the FAQ and the Forums.

Subject: [school-discuss] Smallest Linux Footprint

Hello world,

I've been working with someone who is currently using HP's E140 thin/thick
desktops to provide a "Windows" desktop to users. They want to switch over to Linux and are looking for the smallest linux desktop they can configure on the E-140's.

I suggested they look at the Knoppix CD load as that is around 650MB in size and they would be able to burn it into the 1GB ROM without any problem.

Does anyone else have any suggestions I might pass along.

Thank you in advance.
