We did a reinstall due to a breakin, and have been adding people and
features back as they reappear. Where did you send your mail? :)

svn is generally better than cvs in all ways, yes. We have some projects
in svn at seul, and I bet they'd be willing to add your project to them.
Or you can switch to sourceforge if you prefer that.
