[Computerbank] Computerbank Australia Inc
Hello all involved with Computerbank,
I make the following announcement declaring my intentions for
Computerbank Australia Inc as well as making the membership aware of
constitution and committee concerns.
The President is required to inform every member of voting procedures
and this was not done when the AGM was announced. The Secretary has also
been inactive for the last year so the people interested are going to
nominate from the floor at the AGM. I myself have expressed an interest
for nominating for the role of President. The Constitution has been
contravened, as I've stated previously, and the membership demands to
have nominations approved in accordance with our Rules. So it's not
fiddling semantics - more so about about following correct procedure -
very important. Every member of CAI deserves to have valid nominees up
for election at a meeting.
The last year has been regrettable for CAI as the committee have had no
meetings this year. The President must come into question here. I as
Treasurer have been terribly disappointed with the lack of activity from
the committee. However, I have learnt how a national committee should
NOT be run and this has intensified my desire to make a difference to
the national body should I be elected. Having said that, I have
continued to fulfill my commitments in my capacity as Treasurer - an
audit is due to be completed very shortly.
Kylie's recent email (sent to Committee list and Vic list on saturday 22
nov and to be forwarded to Computerbank list) echoes the sentiments of
the Vic group. However, the intentions stated within the email are
nationally focused with provisions for inclusionary participation from
all states. The fact that the members wishing to nominate come from
Victoria indicates the strong desire of the group to make change for the
better - and we shall provided we are given the opportunity. The people
mentioned are proven in their abilities - I as National Treasurer can
verify that. I encourage all to read Kylie's document if you have not
already done so.
My thoughts:
The Charter of Affiliates needs to be looked at as well as the
Constitution. The appropriate amendments (and ratification) must be made
and approved.
All states should have a financial member (delegated from the States)
represented on the committee in the current Co-Ordinator roles. This
gives them voting rights and includes them in the participatory process
that has been sorely lacking.
CAI to represent all states with no bias.
National meetings to be held on a bi-monthly basis rather than monthly
(negotiable). The Charter of Affiliates should be looked at as an urgent
matter of business - hopefully interest from all states will result,
leading to meetings whereby we have representation from all states.
CAI needs to include its membership base. While our current number is
low, most financial members are Victorians who have the national
interest at heart (again, I refer to Kylie's email). Interest from
others states has been lacking, but the new committee should seek to
change this Vic-centric membership base.
CAI requires a committee to drive it to become the healthy
Australian-wide organisation it deserves to be.
Con Validas
Treasurer
Computerbank Australia Incorporated
