gEDA-user: Gerber -> PCB ?

Hello

Is there a simple way how to write a script that takes a Gerber file
and makes something that makes sense and can be loaded into PCB?

I guess there is no way how to guess what was pad and what was line
and what was polygon (as AFAIK commercial programs don't use the
cool cut-out system for copper planes but the dubios stippled one).

However it could maybe be possible to import the image into some unused
layer and then leave the operator to manually replace it with real footprint
on real layer (and moving all lines by move-to-layer command).

It would be great for importing PCB designs from all those commercial Eagles,
Orcads, Protels etc. which are absolutely unsuitable for a work on free
technology project due to bad licensing ;-)
