I am using MDV, install
  - pcb itself from a tarball
  - supporting packages from rpms:
	byacc,
        	libgtk+2.0_0-devel,
         gd-utils,
         libgd-devel

Worked fine with all recent releases, including 2009.1 (RC2)

In case you use KDE, you may want to twiddle file associations to allow 
starting pcb by hitting the icon of a file an to have a proper icon - in 
case you need help, say so. That works fine with KDE3.5, some problems 
with KDE4.2 (I will probably skip 4.2 - and MDV 2009.1 - hoping that 4.3 
on 2010.0 will come close to be a decent desktop).
