OK, another point of confusion. Going back to my example, on the
ATMega88, pin 1 of the PDIP package is -RESET, while pin 1 of the TQFP
and MLF packages is an I/O named PD3. I keep thinking that there is a
file someplace that maps schematic pin names to footprint pin numbers --
but I get the suspicion now that is not the case. If the package pin
number is taken straight off the schematic symbol without opportunity
for remapping, then I am skewered -- I need different symbols. In my
dreams the pin numbers printed on the schematic would also be
conditional on the "footprint" attribute. I'm guessing gschem doesn't go
there, although I suppose there is some way to filter the ASCII .sch
file to twiddle the attribute values.
