gEDA-user: gschem fonts issue on cygwin

I’ve just installed the cygwin port of gEDA, and get the following error when I run ‘gschem’ after startx:

 

$ gschem

No fonts found; this probably means that the fontconfig

library is not correctly configured. You may need to

Any idea what can be wrong and how to fix it?  Fontconfig seems to be installed correctly (fonts.conf appended below).
