I think footprints without pins are unsupported.

What you want is to have a template starting board for gsch2pcb to
use.  In my tutorial, I tell users to create their board themselves,
NOT with gsch2pcb.  In your case, just copy from the template.

Use gsch2pcb only to add more elements to the board, or update the
netlist.
